Parenting program on disciplining children in English.
Positive Parenting Video
Two versions - English and Spanish (See Golpes y Gritos - #GO03)
This 30- minute program, winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award from Prevent Child Abuse USA, a Telly Award, and two other national awards, presents easy to-use techniques every parent will appreciate. The program shows four common scenes that often lead to shaking, hitting or spanking a child, including a baby who will not stop crying, a toddler who plays with poisonous household cleansers, an eight-year-old boy who refuses to come in for dinner, and a nine-year-old girl who will not clean her room.
After each scene, viewers will have an opportunity to stop the video and brainstorm alternatives to shaking, hitting or spanking. When the program resumes, a number of common sense, proven, parenting techniques are shown. Many of these strategies emphasize prevention, including understanding the child's needs, fostering cooperation, preventing problems from occurring and keeping conflicts from escalating.
The ethnically diverse cast demonstrates how to prevent physical abuse and violent parental behavior, and provides parents with easy-to-apply solutions to extremely vexing and potentially dangerous situations with children. Stephen J. Bavolek, Ph.D., internationally recognized leader in parenting education, and the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect, was consultant for the program.
